Burghaus Castle, Bavaria, Germany -- This hexagonal clock tower is now the focus of the 6th courtyard which was added around 1387. The castle was used by the Dukes of Lower Bavaria as a second home and often as the main home for the duchess and widows. Future dukes would be educated here.Eventually the various Bavarian duchies consolidated and royal housing was at a surplus. So the complex became a prison and military barracks.
